What stays in the WebUI

Stable Diffusion stays the engine; Nira replaces its interface for everyday use. For these things you still open the WebUI:

Inpainting with a mask you paint yourself
Outpainting, extending the image beyond its edges
Merging and training models, creating embeddings
Scripts and extensions Nira does not know, such as Regional Prompter or Dynamic Thresholding

Nothing without your click

Nira installs and changes nothing without asking. She shows every change first and keeps a backup copy.

Nothing gets lost

Deleting moves images to the trash; Nira never deletes for good. Your originals stay untouched when upscaling.

Your data stays with you

Nira runs only on your computer. Other devices reach her only if you switch on phone access yourself.

Help on a click

If something gets stuck, Nira creates an error report, with keys and passwords blacked out.

Ready in three steps

How to

Unzip the file, for example into your user folder.
Start it: on Windows start_nira.bat, on a Mac start_nira.command. The first time, Nira sets herself up for a few minutes.
Your browser opens the setup: language, computer, Veyra key, Stable Diffusion, image model. You find the key in your settings under API.

What you need

A computer with a graphics card: ideally NVIDIA with 8 GB or more (4 GB works at smaller sizes) or a Mac with Apple silicon.
Python 3.12 or 3.13. On Windows Nira installs it for you if you agree, on a Mac get it from python.org. Nira fetches the older Python 3.10 that Stable Diffusion needs by herself.
Stable Diffusion WebUI (AUTOMATIC1111 or SD.Next). Nira installs it for you on a click. ComfyUI is not supported.
An image model (.safetensors). Setup tells you which one fits your computer.
A Veyra Pro subscription for new images. Without it, gallery, upscaler and export keep working. See Pro

If your system warns you on first start

Mac: right-click start_nira.command and choose “Open”. On newer macOS versions, click “Open Anyway” under System Settings → Privacy & Security. Windows: if Windows shows a warning, click “More info” and then “Run anyway”.

Windows is a beta

Everything is built and tested for it, but Nira has only run on a few Windows machines so far. If something gets stuck, send the error report from Settings → Backup to info@veyrastudio.de.

FAQ

Good to know

Do I need any prior knowledge?

No. On first start, setup walks you through everything in your browser: language, computer, Veyra key, Stable Diffusion, image model. Nothing is installed or changed without your click.

What does Nira cost?

Nira itself is free. She paints new images with prompts from Veyra, which needs a Veyra Pro subscription. Without it, gallery, upscaler and export keep working.

Is my computer good enough?

Ideally an NVIDIA graphics card with 8 GB or more; from 4 GB it works with smaller images. A Mac with Apple silicon works too. Setup measures your graphics card and tells you which model and image size fit.

Does Stable Diffusion have to be installed already?

No. Nira installs the AUTOMATIC1111 WebUI on a click. If you already have one, Nira finds it and adds only the one setting it needs (--api), with a backup of your file.

Where do I get an image model?

You download the model (.safetensors) yourself, for example from Civitai, and put it in the models/Stable-diffusion folder. Setup tells you which one fits your computer.

Does Nira work with ComfyUI?

Nira paints through AUTOMATIC1111 or SD.Next. She can start and stop ComfyUI, but does not create images through it. For ComfyUI, Veyra has ready-made workflow templates.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Nira runs on your computer and the images stay there. Only the prompt request to Veyra goes online, plus, if you switch it on, a message to Telegram or Discord that can include an image.

Can Nira paint overnight?

Yes. The schedule sets when she works, for example every night from one to seven. She keeps the computer awake, aborts a stuck image and respects battery and quiet hours.
